World Impact Network working in partnership with Charles and Werna Haupt Ministries financially assisted in the development of a much-needed base camp in the Kalahari Desert. Since 1981, Charles and Werna, seasoned missionaries, have traveled into the Kalahari Desert to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of the Bushmen. From the start, ministry in the desert proved to be a challenge. Transport was difficult, there were swamps, wild animals, mice, snakes, and the usual communication problems. One of the things they desperately needed was a base camp to work from. This would provide much needed accommodation and would also become a storage facility where equipment for future trips could be stored thus avoiding the continual need for long journeys loaded down with equipment. Due to a financial contribution by World Impact Network, a base camp was finally built in Mahalapye, Botswana in 1998. This has proved to be a wonderful blessing to the Herero Buchmen.
