March 2004 - Container of Humanitarian Items Sent

This year marks the beginning of our Reconstruction and Development program in the South Kingangop area of Kenya, which will raise the standard of living for the poorest of the poor and equip local leaders to bring about change in their community. As our initial effort in this program we filled a forty foot container with medical and educational equipment, as well as other relief supplies, in response to the great need our team saw for these types of items when they visited in late 2003. This container was shipped in the second week of March.

These supplies will facilitate the implementation of many local social endeavors, including schools, orphanages, and medical clinics. This year three million children entered the school system in Kenya for the first time as a result of a new law passed by their government. However, no infrastructure had been put in place to sustain these numbers. As you can imagine the needs in this area are huge as a result.
